SISA awaits semester 2 allowance

The delay of School allowance has caused frustration amongst the Solomon Islands student populace within USP Fiji. Solomon Islands students comprise the second majority in USP Fiji, second to Fiji itself.

According to a Solomon Islands student interviewed who decided to keep his identity unknown has expressed that the last batch of first semester's allowance was given in the month of June. The portion given was enough to support them till third week of July which as promised would be the week of the next allowance. He stated that the week has lapsed and still nothing happened.

The students are notified through an email that the reason for the delay was due to lack of funds and responsible authorities are awaiting funds to be sent over before processing them into individual student's bank accounts

One accademic week of schooling has passed and students are faced with the problem of no text books and stationery. He mentioned that this is not a new problem for Solomon Islands  government sponsored students therefore it is wiser for students to mind how they spend their money and not rely on promised dates.

Solomon Islands government needs to improve the level of efficiency in it's funding policy to avoid students being victimized by this ongoing crisis.
